Children and Teens

January 2023

Thursday, January 19th at 3:45 pm — Cooking with Kids is back!  Children from age 5 learn how to create dishes by following simple recipes.  This program is open to children 5-12 years of age.  Space is limited. Please register by calling the library at 608.723.7304 or by emailing Kristin at kholman-steffel@swls.org.

Tinker Tuesdays, January 3, 10, 17, 24, & 31 at 3:45 pm (kids 7 and under must bring an adult) This program focuses on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) projects.  Programs such as these give kids permission to experiment through the exploration of materials with guided facilitation to complete an end project.  We provide a different activity each week.

Toddler Tales, Wednesdays at 9:30 am (for kids birth to 4)  Give your child a boost in early literacy.  Our program provides intentional practice of the five early childhood predictors: oral language, phonemic awareness, alphabet awareness, concepts about print, and early writing.  Through the exploration of books, vocabulary, rhyming, rhythm, music, and movement, your child will be excited to learn and play.

Art Lab, Wednesdays, January 4th, 11th, 18th, & 25th at 3:45 pm (kids 7 and under must bring an adult)  Learn about color theory: primary, secondary, and neutral colors, and how to use primary colors to create other pigments.
